Whether it’s your first time snowboarding, your first time skiing, or even your 10th+ trip to a mountain, it’s important to be prepared. Failing to plan is planning to fail, right? You may have some of the obvious items you need already packed, but there may be some that you haven’t thought of.
Here are some ideas of additional items to bring on your snowboarding trip or skiing trip to Vermont…
All Your Gear
This is a given, unless your renting your snowboard or ski set-up. Make sure you have your board/skis, helmet, goggles, snow pants, snow jacket, etc. all packed and ready to go. You don’t want to leave anything behind. There’s nothing worse than showing up to the mountain and realizing you don’t have your snowboard pants – I’ve done this multiple times. It’s honestly terrible – please learn from my mistakes!!
Here’s a list of some of the little things that I know I personally am prone to forgetting…
Balaclava
Helmet Hood
Beanie
Gloves
Muck Boots
When you leave the mountain, chances are the parking lot will be full of mud. If you’re just going to a restaurant in Vermont, chances are you will have to walk through some amount of mud. If you get to your Airbnb or Ski Rental House in Vermont, chances are you’ll be trekking through mud. If you are going on a ski or snowboard trip in Vermont, chances are you will be exposed to a generous amount of mud.
Make sure you have appropriate footwear to handle this. Also, don’t bring any sneakers or shoes you like without a tough sole, the sale will eat away at them! Here are some links to affordable and practical muck boots!

Lots of Dry Socks
You going to want to pack extra socks for your ski trip, and then even more extra socks… Here’s the link to my favorite Smartwool Snowbaord Socks

Hydrating Skincare
After being on the mountain all day, your skin will take a beating. Between the wind, flying down the mountain, and the altitude, after a day riding your skin can get dry and wind burned. I’d recommend bringing hydrating skincare with you to apply before and after a day on the mountain in Vermont, you’ll thank me I promise!
Tula Day & Night Hydrating Face Cream
Lip Balm/Lip Masks
Same thing as above, your lips will experience that same phenomena as you skin. Make sure you pack lip balm for the day and a lip mask for the night!
Cleansing Face Wipes
Having a pack of cleansing face wipes in my snowboard boot bag has been a gamechanger. After a long day on the mountain, it may be cold but you will absolutely work up a sweat. When you are done taking laps for the day, you’ll thank me for having these in your bag!
Extra Water Bottle
I’m not a big fan of snowboarding on skiing with a backpack or hydrating backpack, not my thing. If it’s yours go for it! But after riding all day, I am beyond dehydrated. It will make your day if you go back to your car or your bag in the lodge, and have a water bottle ready to chug.
Foam Roller
For post-skiing or post-snowboarding, a foam roller will be your best friend. Especially if it’s your fist time snowboarding or skiing in a long time. You’ll feel some type of way after your first day, and even worse if you’re going to the mountain multiple days in a row!
Tiger Balm
You probably aren’t planning on hurting yourself or falling, but having tiger balm on hand is a smart move. If can help you sleep better and feel better if you ultimately do manage to strain a muscle or fall in an awkward way. Even if it isn’t for you, it’s nice to have this incase someone in your group ultimately needs it!
