5 Outdoor Date Ideas For Adults In Nassau County
It appears that more people like me exist out here on Long Island – the people who like to do more than just grab dinner or drinks of date nights on Long Island. The response to my first iteration of Outdoor Dates Ideas for Active Couples on Long Island was more than I would have ever expected. So guess what? Here’s volume 2 – but this time we’re talking exclusively about outdoor date ideas in Nassau County.
Long Island really does have so much to offer and so much to explore that it really feels like a disservice to stay indoors and not get outside! If you’re looking for a date idea in Nassau County and want to opt for an experience more than just a dinner date, then take a look at some of the date ideas below!
Hike The Muttontown Preserve
The Muttontown Preserve is a great area to explore – if it’s a sunny Long Island day are you are looking for a outdoor date? Look no further. Head over to the Muttontown Preserve, walk around the ground …maybe go explore the ruins of King Zog’s Estate. After your hike and exploration of all that the gold coast of Long Island has to offer, head a short way down the road to the Milleridge Inn for dinner and drinks!
Golf At Bethpage State Park
You may be reading this and thinking there is no way I could golf at Bethpage – PGA Tours are hosted there and it’s an extremely difficult course… I’m here to prove you wrong, Bethpage State Park has multiple golf courses of different difficulty levels. Bethpage Black is the most difficult and also most well-known at Bethpage State Park (it’s also very tough to get a tee time on this highly sought after course). If you are new to golf, maybe go for one of the more beginner courses on the property. Golfing is a super fun outdoor activity for couples, especially on Long Island.
Horse Back Riding at Old Bethpage Restoration Village
Old Bethpage Restoration Village is worth visiting, it takes you back to a different time when life was much simpler. This Restoration Village gives you a peak into what Long Island was like in the 18th and 19th century. With over 200 acres to explore and multiple houses, that were preserved from the time, to walk through – there is so much history to take in. What’s better than walking? Horse back riding through this incredible time capsule right here on Long Island.
Archery at Cedar Creek Park Archery Range
A unique date night for active couples on Long Island? Archery at Cedar Creek Park! The only downside is that you have to bring all of your own equipment – bows, targets, and arrows – that is unless you join the “Nassau Bowmen” club that has access to a storage shed on the field. Something fun to explore on Long Island!
Disc Golf At Eisenhower Park
I recently go dragged in Disc Golfing and it wasn’t quite as dinky as I thought it would be – it’s actually pretty fun and enjoyable. The best part was walking around in nature, outside, soaking up the sun and getting to perfect a nice strong frisbee throw. It really is a great outdoor date idea for active couples on Long Island. Eisenhower Park has an 18 hole course that you can play – you jsut need to bring your own discs! Here is a great option from Amazon, under $20 too!
Picnic At Planting Fields Arboretum
Located in Oyster Bay, Planting Fields Arboretum is over 400 acres nestled on the Gold Coast of Long Island. What makes it so great for an outdoor date, the opportunity to walk through the manicured gardens and lawns. After exploring the property, and the Coe Hall Historic House ( a massive gold coast mansion on Long Island), enjoy a picnic and relax while taking in the beautiful surroundings.
Surfing Lessons in Long Beach
We’re on Long Island after all – a perfect date, thats perfectly curate for active couples, is surfing! Check out Skudin Surf in Long Beach, New York and look into some private of small group lessons. When you’re done, you are right in Long Beach and have so many amazing restaurants and bars all within walking distance. Here are some of my favorites.
